FX-100: Anechoic Acoustic Measurements

Anechoic Acoustic Measurements with the FX100 Audio Analyzer

The FX100 Audio Analyzer now supports anechoic acoustic measurements under reverberant conditions. This feature delivers free-field frequency response results, even in suboptimal acoustical environments. The test is performed with a logarithmic GlideSweep.

The room reflections can be excluded from the measurement results by introducing a time-window to the signal processing. A comfortable wizard in the FX-Control PC-software allows localizing the reflections in an impulse-response or energy-time curve (ETC) display. The time-window can then be graphically placed in front of the reflections, thus feeding the measurement algorithm with the direct sound signal only. The influence of the time-window to the frequency response becomes visible in real time.

The latest FX100 firmware and FX-Control software are available free of charge for registered FLEXUS customers here.

Ask us for a demonstration of the FX100 Audio Analyzer at the
PLASA Show in London or at the AES in New York.

NTi Audio on Show in London at PLASA 2013

NTi Audio on Show in London

The PLASA Show has a new home this year - the ExCel London. Meet us there from 6 - 9 Oct where we will be showcasing the XL2 Audio and Acoustic Analyzer dedicated for live sound, installed sound, studio and environmental noise applications.

The XL2 Type Approval Option upgrades the instrument to the XL2-TA, the class 1 Sound Level Meter dedicated to certified measurements. The XL2-TA in combination with the M2230 measurement microphone is officially listed as a type approved class 1 sound level meter by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Germany. The XL2-TA is therefore suitable for environmental noise, occupational health and sound insulation applications where the measurements are required to be certified.

The XL2 STIPA Option incorporates the latest IEC 60268-16 STIPA Standard V4.0 2011. See a demonstration of how to measure Speech Intelligibility using the XL2 and the TalkBox, including tips and tricks to make the measurement and documentation that much easier.

Gregor Schmidle of NTi Audio presents a paper at AES 2013

AES Paper Presentation

"End-of-Line Test Concepts to Achieve and Maintain Yield and Quality in High-Volume Loudspeaker Production"

Managing high-volume, multiple-line & -location loudspeaker production is a challenging task that requires interdisciplinary skills. The paper offers concepts for designing and maintaining end-of-line test systems that help to achieve and maintain consistent yield and quality. Topics covered include acoustic and electric test parameter selection, mechanical test jig design, limit finding strategies, fault-tolerant workflow creation, test system calibration and environmental influence handling as well as utilizing statistics and statistic process control.

Location: AES Convention New York
Date: Oct 19, 2013
Session: P14-3
Presented by: Gregor Schmidle
