A precise and reliable RT60 measurement instrument that uses both the T20 and T30 method.Advanced RT60 Reverb Measurement

Why do we measure RT60 reverberation time?

The XL2 is a precise and reliable RT60 measurement instrument. In addition to the T20 calculation, the XL2 Sound Level Meter now measures reverberation time using the T30 method. This enhancement is in line with the current ISO3382 standard and is free for all XL2 customers.

A reverberation time RT60 measurement represents the time taken for the sound level in a room to drop by 60 dB, after the sound source is suddenly removed. The XL2 employs a Schroeder reverse integration method to measure the RT60 reverberation spectrum in octave bands from 63 Hz to 8 kHz. The optional "Extended Acoustic Pack" increases the measurement resolution to 1/3rd octave bands in the range from 50 Hz to 10 kHz.

XL2 measures reverberation time in accordance with ISO3382 Standard
According to the ISO3382 standard, reverberation time can be determined using various measurement methods. The XL2 now offers two such methods; the new T30 method and the current T20 method. The procedure to measure reverberation with both methods is simple.

Popular TV Programme trusts XL2 for Noise Monitoring of Wind Farms

Windfarm Noise Monitoring Ireland with XL2 TA

Eco Eye, Ireland's longest running and most successful environmental documentary series recently turned their attention to Wind Energy using the XL2 sound level meter and weather protected microphone to monitor noise from one of Irelands largest wind farms.

In the episode broadcast on the 10th February titled ‘Greening our Electricity’ the renowned Irish journalist Duncan Stuart looked into the key role of wind energy in Ireland examining the issue of noise from wind turbines, asking just how much of a disturbance they cause to residents living nearby.

Octave and one-third octave band measurements with the FX100 Audio Analyzer

NTi Audio provides a tool to derive octave and one-third octave band results from FFT measurement results using the FX100 Audio analyzer

Octave and one-third octave band representations of measurements are widely used for real-time acoustic spectral analysis (RTA) in sound level meters. Audio Analyzers, on the other hand, typically represent spectrums with high-resolution FFT's. There are also audio measurement applications where standards require octave or one-third octave band measurements. NTi Audio provides a tool to derive octave and one-third octave band results from FFT measurement results using the FX100 Audio analyzer.

The octave and one-third octave results derived by the FX100 would be applied, for example to:

●  Sound pressure level evaluation of headphones or earphones (DIN50332)
Sound attenuation measurements in the automotive and building acoustics industries
Noise emission from appliances and equipment
